Oak Street Fire Claims well-loved neighborhood fixture Charlie Nash
Charlie Nash (on trombone at right) at Oak Street Cafe with fellow musicians Charles and Phil.
Sadly, Charles Nash did not survive the fire that broke out very early Thursday morning at his apartment, above his place of work at the Ace Hardware store on Oak. Two other residents in the building did escape from their front and rear apartments. Charlie’s was in the middle.
A sign that reads, “Closed due to the death of a family member” remains posted on the door of Ace Hardware. He was a kind and gentlemanly man and will be well-missed by the Oak Street community.
There will be a second line parade in Charlie’s honor on Saturday the 14th of July at 1pm, beginning at Ace Hardware (8338 Oak Street) and ending at Carrollton Station.
