Uptown musicians will now have a place to shop for their accessories and supplies a little closer to home. Husband and wife team, Frankie and Louise are excited to open their new business on Oak Street which will sell instruments including, guitars, keyboards, organs and music accessories for just about everything. Their goal is to make quality products available locally so customers no longer have to drive across town or shop online for their music needs.
Emerson & Son will provide an emergency hotline to artists that find themselves in a last-minute bind. Frankie, who is a guitarist in the psychedelic band Brian Jonestown Massacre, wants to make their business available after hours to musicians that perform at nearby venues like The Maple Leaf Bar. He knows from experience that this is a unique service that is needed but never available.
They will also sell an eclectic variety of vintage items ranging from “The Nightmare Before Christmas” collectibles, Andy Warhol Campbell Soup cans, and an array of vinyl records. Louise says, “Whenever our friends visit New Orleans from out of town they either ask about a music store or a vintage shop.” By combining the two, they hope to offer a convenience for music and vintage enthusiasts alike in the Carrollton neighborhood which they adore.
Frankie and Louise have been in New Orleans for 3 ½ years and love living in the Oak Street area. They are proud to now become merchants on the neighborhood street that has something for everyone. Their 2 year- old son, Django, was born in their Pigeontown home and is already showing signs for his love of music through singing. You will probably be greeted by him and his smile during your visit to their family-owned and operated store.
Emerson & Son’s grand opening is this Saturday, December 1st from 10am to 6pm. Their regular business hours will be Monday-Saturday from 10am to 6pm with an emergency hotline available for musicians into late night hours. They are located at 8725 Oak Street next to Salon Alphonse. For inquiries, call them at 504-866-6929. You can also visit their Facebook page for more information.
